Who We Are at Xoralox
We started with a question back in 2019: why does investment education feel so disconnected from how people actually think about money? Most of what's out there sounds like it was written for robots, not humans trying to figure out their financial futures.
How Xoralox Started
Our founder, Linnea Fjellström, spent fifteen years working in portfolio management across Toronto and Montreal. She kept noticing the same pattern: clients would nod along during meetings but later admit they didn't really understand what was happening with their investments.
The breaking point came during a 2018 market correction. Linnea watched smart, educated people make panicked decisions simply because nobody had explained the underlying principles in a way that made sense when emotions ran high.
So she left her position and started building something different. Not another investment firm, but an educational platform focused on teaching the theory and frameworks that help people make informed decisions themselves.
What Drives Our Work
Real Understanding
We don't believe in shortcuts or hacks. Investment theory takes time to absorb, and we're fine with that.
Our programs run for nine to twelve months because that's what it takes to move from memorizing concepts to actually understanding how they connect.
Honest Approach
We won't promise you'll become wealthy or guarantee career outcomes. What we can offer is a thorough foundation in investment principles that helps you think more clearly about financial decisions.
Some students go on to financial careers. Others just want to understand their retirement accounts better. Both outcomes are valuable.
The People Behind Xoralox
We're a small team based in Owen Sound. Everyone here has worked in either investment management or financial education, and we all share a frustration with how complicated the industry makes relatively straightforward concepts.
Demir Özkan
Curriculum Development
Demir spent a decade teaching economics at university level before joining us in 2021. He's responsible for making sure our content actually teaches instead of just presenting information.
Saoirse Devlin
Program Coordination
Saoirse runs our day-to-day operations and works directly with students. She has a background in adult education and keeps us focused on what actually helps people learn.
