Building Your Investment Knowledge in Canada

Moving to a new country comes with its own financial challenges. And honestly? The Canadian investment landscape can feel pretty overwhelming at first. You're navigating different tax structures, unfamiliar market regulations, and trying to figure out where your money actually belongs.

We've worked with hundreds of international students since 2019, and the questions are always similar. How do RRSPs work? What's a TFSA? Can I even invest while studying? The good news is that understanding investment theory doesn't require perfect English or years of local experience.

Your Learning Path Forward

We've designed this specifically for students balancing studies, part-time work, and trying to make smart money decisions. Each phase builds on the last, so you're never thrown into complex concepts without context.

1

Foundation Module (September 2025)

Start with the basics. What's a stock? How do bonds work? We cover fundamental concepts without assuming prior knowledge. Most students spend 3-4 hours per week on this, and it runs for six weeks. You'll learn portfolio theory, risk assessment, and how Canadian markets actually function day-to-day.

2

Application Phase (November 2025)

Theory means nothing without practice. You'll work through case studies based on real scenarios we've seen with international students. Managing currency exchange risks. Understanding when to convert money back home. Building emergency funds while paying tuition. This phase is more hands-on, with weekly problem-solving sessions.

3

Canadian Context Deep Dive (January 2026)

Here's where it gets practical for your situation. Tax implications for non-residents versus permanent residents. How student visas affect investment accounts. Understanding CPP and what happens when you eventually leave Canada or decide to stay. We bring in guest speakers who've navigated these exact transitions.

4

Portfolio Strategy Development (March 2026)

By this point, you're ready to think about your own strategy. What makes sense for your timeline? Are you going back home after graduation, or staying long-term? We help you develop frameworks for making these decisions, not cookie-cutter solutions that ignore your specific circumstances.

Meet Your Advisors

Each advisor brings personal experience with international transitions and understands the unique position you're in. They're here to answer the questions you might feel embarrassed asking elsewhere.
